Gunta Ponganalu | Indian Snack Dish

'Gunta Ponganalu' is a South Indian snack dish which can be prepared easily and quickly by Dosa Batter. This dish can be served as a breakfast or a snack. It takes about 5 to 10 mins to prepare. Let's see the snack dish ingredients and process below:
Guntha ponganalu
Preparing Time: 10 mins
1. Dosa batter
2. Onion slices
3. Cumin seeds
4. Mustard seeds
5. Curry leaves
6. Bengal gram (Chana dal, Chickpea)
7. Black gram split (Urad dal, Vigna mungo)
8. Dry red chilies - 2
9. Olive oil
Step 1:

Take 2 cups of dosa batter.

Step 2:
  • Take a pan, add oil and heat it.
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, dry red chilies, black gram, bengal gram, ginger garlic paste and cook for 2 mins.

Step 3:
  • Add all the tempering ingredients to dosa batter.
  •  Add finely chopped onions and salt to batter and mix properly.

Step 4:
  •  Below pan is used to prepare Guntha ponganalu.

  • Heat the pan and add half table spoon of Olive oil to each impression. 
Step 5:
  • Add the ready batter to each impression. Make sure that it doesn't over flow as it would be difficult to flip over.
  • Cook them for 2-3 mins.

Step 6:
Flip over one Guntha Ponganam to other side by pan stick and check if you can see dark brown color on it. flip over the remaining and cook for 2 to 3 more mins.

Step 7:
  • Take them out gently and go for the second lot.
  • Serve them with ground nut chutney and ginger or any other pickle.
