Apple Fruit has Nutritious Benefits and Healthy Diet

The apple fruit has been grown in Asia and Europe for thousands of years and was brought to North America by colonists in the early 1600's. There are more than 7500 types of apples grown worldwide, and in United States grows about 2500 of them. Some popular types of apples are: Cortland, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Empire, Fuji, Gala, McIntosh and Winesap. Healthy and nutritious of different types of apples are following as,

Some varieties of apples, which can be eaten raw, as well as can be used for cooking may include the following:
  • Baldwin: An apple with red skin, which is streaked with yellow. This variety is crisp and has a sweet-tart flavor.
  • Fuji: This apple is green to yellow in color and has an under color of blushed red. It is fragrant sweet, crisp and juicy.
  • Brae burn: It has a mottled red and yellow skin, is crisp and has a sweet-tart flesh
  • Cortland: It has a smooth and shiny red skin and juicy, crisp and has a sweet-tart flesh that resists browning.
  • Gala: It has a red mottled color with traces of yellow.This apple variety sweet, slightly spicy, crisp and juicy
  • Criterion: This variety has a bright red skin with green highlights and has a slightly tart like juicy flesh.

  • Granny Smith: This variety has a freckled green skin and has a sweet tart, moderately juicy flesh
  • Jonagold: This variety is a cross between the golden delicious variety and the Jonathan, variety. It has a mottled red and yellow skin and is moderately crispy, very juicy having a sweet-tart flesh
  • Lady Apple: This variety has a skin color ranging from brilliant red to yellow with a red blushing, and a sweet-tart flesh
  • McIntosh: It has a bright red skin sometimes tinged with green, and a medium-crisp, tart-sweet
  • Pink Lady: This variety has a pinkish-red skin and is crisp, has a sweet tart flesh with hints of kiwi and raspberry
  • Rhode Island Greening: It has a green to yellow-green skin and a sweet-tart flesh that seems to intensify in flavor when cooked
  • Rome Beauty: It has a deep red skin with some yellow speckles and a firm and mildly sweet flesh.

Fuji Apple:

Fuji apples are from Japan in 1930's growing popular then majority of China's apple crops and one of the most popular apples are purchased in United states. Red skin with a sweet taste, fuji apples are very healthy. These are nutritious with highest amount of flavinoids among all type of apples.

Cholesterol: 
One unpeeled fuji apple contains about 3 grams of fiber, over 10% of daily need. This help to reduce cholesterol levels, which protects the heart and arteries.

and also protect cells against TNF, a cancerous compound that triggers cell death.

Frucotse:
Apples get their sweet taste from a natural sugar known as fructose. Along with the fiber in a fuji apple, the fructose breaks down slowly, which helps to maintain a low blood sugar level.

  • Further, apple fruit is a good source of B-complex vitamins such as riboflavin, thiamin, and pyridoxine (vitamin B-6). These vitamins help as co-factors for enzymes in metabolism as well as in various synthetic functions inside the body.
  • Apples also have a small amount of minerals like potassium, phosphorus and calcium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids help controlling heart rate and blood pressure thus, counters the bad influences of sodium.
